National School Nutrition Employee Week - May 2-6, 2016

School Nutrition Employee Week is the perfect opportunity to recognize our hardworking professionals in school cafeterias across the County. The National School Nutrition Association has designated this week to remind everyone that school nutrition employees are superheroes that deserve recognition.

All week long, we will take this opportunity to thank the hardworking school nutrition professionals who work hard to make our kids, our schools and our community healthier.

It’s about more than making and serving meals-school nutrition is a balancing act; strict nutrition guidelines, challenging budgets, making meals our students love, and navigating student allergies-these are just a few of the daily considerations of our “average” school nutrition superhero!

Nutritious meals at school are an essential part of the school day; and the staff of the Halifax County Schools Nutrition Department is committed to providing healthful, nutritious meals to our children. The women and men who prepare and serve school meals help nurture our children through daily interaction and support, and help them to become successful students and healthy citizens- “you can’t teach a hungry child”.
